Cyrille Regis Memorial
At the end of January we learnt of the very sad news that Cyrille Regis, the beloved footballer from Birmingham, had passed away.
Many people in the West Midlands and the wider country wanted to celebrate the life of this brilliant man.
Centrepiece Productions was approached by the family and friends of Cyrille to help put together a Celebration Event to be held at West Bromwich Albion Football Club. We were extremely honoured to help. With Gareth Davies, Centrepiece Productions Director, appointed as production manager we were able to pull together a stadium event in a week.
Centrepiece Productions provided a complete L’Acoustics audio package capable of ensuring that every member of the 4000 strong congregation, band, vocalists and choir, were able to hear every word of the eulogies, enjoy every note of the large band, gospel choir and vocal group. We provided audio feeds for the many news and media broadcasters on site, including the live broadcast by ITV Central.
With a full gospel band, 30 strong choir, 8 person vocal group, soloists (including the brilliant Beverley Knight), and podium mics, this was no small undertaking. It was an absolute privilege to provide, operate and help accomplish what was a fantastic event in celebration of a fantastic man who we be greatly missed. We supplied full Health & Safety documents covering all aspects of our work for the Football Stadium Management.
“I had the opportunity to work with Gareth of Centrepiece Productions as my sound and production manager for a large public event at a football stadium. The event required equipment and engineering for a large band, mics for several speakers and communications systems for ushers, hospitality across the whole site. Gareth was knowledgeable, professional and responded to the assignment promptly and efficiently in what was a very sensitive and public event with national media interest. We couldn’t have pulled this event together in the short time scale that we had without his support and advice in this area.“
